ভারতের প্রাচীন পুরাণ ও শাস্ত্রে মহিলাদের জন্য পালনীয় নানা বিধি নিষেধের উল্লেখ যেমন রয়েছে, তেমনই পুরুষদেরও কিছু বিষয়ে কিছু নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে। নারীর সঙ্গে মেলামেশার ক্ষেত্রে কয়েকটি বিষয় থেকে পুরুষকে বিরত থাকতে বলেছে বিভিন্ন প্রাচীন শাস্ত্রে। বিশেষ কিছু মহিলার সঙ্গে শারীরিক সম্পর্কে পুরুষের লিপ্ত হওয়ার বিষয়টিকে ‘মপাপাপ’ বলে মনে করছে শাস্ত্র। এই মহাপাপ যদি করেন কোনও পুরুষ, তা হলে তার পরিণতি হতে পারে ভয়াবহ। শারীরিক ঘনিষ্ঠতার ক্ষেত্রে কোন ধরনের মহিলাদের এড়িয়ে চলতে বলছে শাস্ত্র? আসুন, জেনে নেওয়া যাক—

১. অবিবাহিত মহিলা: বলপূর্বক হোক, কিংবা সংশ্লিষ্ট নারীর সম্মতি সহকারে, কোনও অবিবাহিত মহিলার সঙ্গেই সঙ্গম উচিত নয় বলে মনে করছে শাস্ত্র।

২. বিধবা: কোনও বিধবার সঙ্গে শারীরিক সম্পর্ককে পাপ বলে উল্লেখ করছে শাস্ত্র। এই ধরণের পাপের পরিণতি হতে পারে ভয়াবহ।

৩. বন্ধুর স্ত্রী: কোনও বন্ধুর স্ত্রীর সঙ্গে যৌন সম্পর্কের ফলে নারী ও পুরুষ— দু’জনেই মহাপাপে নিমজ্জিত হয়। নিয়তির হাতে এর জন্য কঠিন শাস্তি ভোগ করতে হয় দু’জনকেই।

৪. শত্রুর স্ত্রী: শাস্ত্রে, এমনকী, শত্রুর স্ত্রীর সঙ্গে শারীরিক সম্পর্কেও নিষেধ স্থাপন করা হচ্ছে। শত্রুর স্ত্রীর সঙ্গে যৌন সম্পর্কেও মহাপাপ হয় বলে মনে করছে শাস্ত্র।

৫. শিষ্যের স্ত্রী: শাস্ত্রের মতে, কোনও শিষ্য অথবা ছাত্রের স্ত্রীর সঙ্গে কখনওই কোনও পুরুষের যৌন সম্পর্কে লিপ্ত উচিত নয়।

৬. পরিবারের অন্তর্ভুক্ত কোনও নারী: সরাসরি রক্তের সম্পর্ক রয়েছে, এমন মহিলার সঙ্গে পুরুষদের শারীরিক সম্পর্কে কড়া নিষেধ স্থাপন করেছে প্রাচীন হিন্দু শাস্ত্র।

৭. বয়সে বড় কোনও মহিলা: নিজের চেয়ে বেশি বয়সি কোনও মহিলার সঙ্গে কোনও পুরুষের শারীরিক সম্পর্ক না হওয়াই উচিত বলে মনে করেছে প্রাচীন শাস্ত্রসমূহ।

৮. যৌনকর্মী: অর্থের জন্য নিজের শরীর বিক্রি করছেন যে মহিলা, তাঁর সঙ্গে দৈহিক সম্পর্ক সম্পূর্ণ অনুচিত বলেই মনে করেছে প্রাচীন শাস্ত্র।
