This will start the installation of the nuclear reactor at the power plant.
Nuclear power plant company Bangladesh Limited has completed all preparations for the construction of the project.
Inauguration, the representative of the International Atomic Energy Agency and Russian National Atomic Energy Corporation (ROSATOM) Director General Alex Dotachev will be present.
The government has signed a deal with Russia in 2011 to build the power plant. Later, the loan agreement was signed in 2013. The first step of the center is already finished. Now the original construction is being started.
The first unit of a total of 2,400 MW will come in production of 1,000 megawatt in December 2022.
And the second unit will come next year.
Through this, Bangladesh is going to be involved in nuclear power generation as the 32nd country in the world. Russia's government is taking a loan of 11.38 billion dollars to implement this project.
পাবনার রূপপুরে দেশের প্রথম পরমাণু বিদ্যুৎ কেন্দ্রের মূল পর্বের নির্মাণকাজ আজ বৃহস্পতিবার থেকে শুরু হতে যাচ্ছে। দুপুরে প্রথম এ কংক্রিট ঢালাই কাজের উদ্বোধন করবেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা।
এর মধ্য দিয়ে বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্রটির পরমাণু চুল্লি বসানোর কাজ শুরু হবে।
প্রকল্পের উৎপাদন কেন্দ্রের এই নির্মাণকাজ শুরুর সব প্রস্তুতি সম্পন্ন করেছে নিউক্লিয়ার পাওয়ার প্লান্ট কম্পানি বাংলাদেশ লিমিটেড।
উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে আন্তর্জাতিক পরমাণু শক্তি সংস্থার প্রতিনিধি এবং রাশিয়ার রাষ্ট্রীয় পারমাণবিক শক্তি করপোরেশনের (রোসাটম) মহাপরিচালক আলেক্স লিখাচেভ উপস্থিত থাকার কথা রয়েছে।
বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্রটি নির্মাণে সরকার ২০১১ সালে রাশিয়ার সঙ্গে চুক্তি করে। পরে ২০১৩ সালে ঋণচুক্তি সই হয়। কেন্দ্রটির প্রথম ধাপের কাজ এরই মধ্যে শেষ হয়েছে। এখন মূল নির্মাণকাজ শুরু হচ্ছে।
মোট দুই হাজার ৪০০ মেগাওয়াটের কেন্দ্রটির প্রথম ইউনিট এক হাজার ২০০ মেগাওয়াট উৎপাদনে আসবে ২০২২ সালের ডিসেম্বরে।
আর দ্বিতীয় ইউনিট আসবে পরের বছর।
এর মাধ্যমে পারমাণবিক বিদ্যুৎ উৎপাদনে বাংলাদেশ বিশ্বে ৩২তম দেশ হিসেবে নিউক্লিয়ার ক্লাবে যুক্ত হতে যাচ্ছে। এই প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়নে রাশিয়ার কাছ থেকে সরকার ১১ দশমিক ৩৮ বিলিয়ন ডলার ঋণ নিচ্ছে।
