তবে, একবিংশ শতাব্দীতে দাঁড়িয়ে এই ধরণের সংস্কারকে নেহাতই কুসংস্কারই বলা যায়৷ অতীতে এই ধরণের একটি মিথ্যে রটনা করা হয়েছিল৷ কারণ সেই সময় কাঁচ ছিল বহুমূল্য৷ সেই কারণে চট করে যাতে কেউ না ভেঙে ফেলে সেই কারণে এই ধরণের মন্তব্য করা হত৷ পাশাপাশি ভাঙা কাঁচের অংশে হাত কেটে সেপ্টিক হয়ে যাওয়ারও সম্ভাবনা থাকে৷ সেই কারণেই এই ধরণের মিথ্যা রটানো হত৷
