তাদের ছেলে জিমিকে দমকল বাহিনীর এক কর্মী উদ্ধার করেন। ছেলেটিকে কোলে নিয়ে ওই কর্মী সিঁড়ি বেয়ে নিচে নেমে আসেন। ঘটনাস্থলেই এক অতিথি মারা যায়। স্কটল্যান্ডের রয়্যাল আলেক্সান্ড্রা হাসপাতালে ভর্তির পর মারা যায় আরও একজন। নিশ্বাসের সঙ্গে ধোঁয়া প্রবেশ করায় জিমিকেও হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করাতে হয়েছিল। পরে তাকে ছেড়ে দেয়া হয়।
