‘আমি খারাপ করলেও খুশি থাকি। ভালো হলেও খুশি থাকি। দিন শেষে এটা খেলা। (এতে খারাপ করলে) আমাকে কেউ মেরে ফেলবে না, আমি মরেও যাব না! এটা ঠিক, যতটা প্রত্যাশা ছিল, ততটা হয়নি। আরও ভালো করা উচিত ছিল। মানসিকভাবে আমরা পিছিয়ে ছিলাম’—তরুণ অলরাউন্ডারের ব্যাখ্যায় পরিণতবোধের ছাপই পাওয়া গেল।

গত বিপিএলে অনেকটা সাদামাটা দল নিয়েই ফাইনালে উঠেছিল রাজশাহী। অথচ এবার মুশফিকুর রহিম, মোস্তাফিজুর রহমান, লুক রাইট, লেন্ডল সিমন্স, ডোয়াইন স্মিথদের মতো দেশি-বিদেশি তারকা থাকার পরও দলটা উঠতে পারেনি শেষ চারে।

টুর্নামেন্টে রাজশাহীর কেন এই বিবর্ণ দশা? মিরাজ অবশ্য চোটকে বড় করে দেখলেন, ‘গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অনেক খেলোয়াড় শতভাগ ফিট ছিল না। সিমন্স, স্মিথ এক-দুই ম্যাচ ভালো করেই চোটে পড়েছে। এবার মৌসুমটাই চোটে কেটেছে, দলের দুর্ভাগ্য।’

অজুহাত নয়, অকপটেই নিজেদের ব্যর্থতা স্বীকার করে নিলেন মিরাজ, ‘টি-টোয়েন্টিতে সবাই সব দিন ভালো খেলে না। দু-তিনজন ভালো খেললেই অনেক সময় ম্যাচ জেতা যায়। (ড্যারেন) স্যামি দুটি ম্যাচ ভালো খেলেছে। সামিও (মোহাম্মদ) একটা ম্যাচ ভালো বোলিং করেছে। আমি-মোস্তাফিজ যদি ভালো করতাম, আরও দু-তিনটা ম্যাচ জিততে পারতাম। এটাই দুর্ভাগ্য, আমি-মোস্তাফিজ তিন-চারটা ম্যাচ কিছুই করতে পারিনি!’

দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকায় চোটে পড়া মোস্তাফিজকে রাজশাহী পেয়েছে চট্টগ্রাম পর্বে। যে ৫টা ম্যাচ খেলেছেন, ভালো করতে পারেননি বাঁহাতি পেসার। উইকেট পেয়েছেন ৪টি, ইকোনমি ৮.৪০। খুব একটা ভালো করতে পারেননি মিরাজ নিজেও। ১২ ম্যাচে ১০ উইকেট ও করেছেন ৯৩ রান। দুই বন্ধু যদি একসঙ্গে জ্বলে উঠতে পারতেন, টুর্নামেন্টে রাজশাহীর চেহারাটা অন্য রকম থাকতে পারত।
