The recent survey results have challenged the long-established concept of female and male partner selection.

Researchers from the study said that if the number of women in the hands of a man is higher then his heart is more agile. Then she has the tendency to build multiple relationships. And if the number of women is less then the men are more interested in engaging with a long-term partner. When it becomes difficult for women to find, then the best way is to stick to one another. Men do the same.

The relationship between the partner with the partner is partly dependent on abundance and receipt. Where women are found easily as a companion, there are men in many ways inclined towards multiple women. And if the number of women is less then the men are happy with one woman.

Based on the findings of research, a group of researchers from the United States University of Utah has claimed this information. Their research article published in the Royal Society Open Science magazine.

Researchers have claimed that data from 13,000 hunters, fishermen and peasants who studied for 16 months in Macushi tribal settlement in South-western of Guyana have been found.

The anthropologist Ryan Scach of Utah University led the research team. He and his wife Jacqui interviewed 300 men and women of the age group of 18 to 45 years from 2010-2011 to the Makoshi people.

Ryan Scach said, "If the number of women is insufficient, men desire to stay committed to a long time with a woman. '

এই সমীক্ষা চালানো গবেষকেরা দাবি করছেন, একজন পুরুষের হাতের নাগালে নারীর সংখ্যা বেশি থাকলে তার চিত্ত বেশি চঞ্চল থাকে। তখন একাধিক সম্পর্ক গড়ার ব্যাপারে ঝোঁকে সে। আর নারীর সংখ্যা কম থাকলে পুরুষ একজন সঙ্গীর সঙ্গে দীর্ঘ মেয়াদি সম্পর্কে জড়িয়ে থাকতে আগ্রহী হয়। যখন নারীর সন্ধান পাওয়া কঠিন হয়ে পড়ে, তখন সবচেয়ে ভালো উপায় একজনের সঙ্গে লেগে থাকা। পুরুষেরা সেটিই করে।

সঙ্গীর সঙ্গে পুরুষের থিতু হওয়ার বিষয়টি আংশিকভাবে প্রাচুর্য ও প্রাপ্তির ওপর নির্ভরশীল। জীবনসঙ্গী হিসেবে নারীকে যেখানে সহজেই পাওয়া যায়, সেখানে পুরুষেরা অনেক ক্ষেত্রে একাধিক নারীর দিকে ঝোঁকে। আর নারীর সংখ্যা কম হলে পুরুষ এক নারীতেই খুশি থাকে।

গবেষণার ফলাফলের ভিত্তিতে এই তথ্য দাবি করেছেন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ইউটা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের একদল গবেষক। রয়াল সোসাইটি ওপেন সায়েন্স সাময়িকীতে তাঁদের এই গবেষণাবিষয়ক নিবন্ধ প্রকাশিত হয়েছে।

গবেষকেরা দাবি করেন, গায়ানার দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমের মাকুশি উপজাতীয় বসতিতে ১৩ হাজার শিকারি, মৎস্যজীবী ও কৃষকের ওপর ১৬ মাস ধরে চালানো গবেষণা থেকে এমন তথ্য পাওয়া গেছে।

ইউটা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের নৃবিজ্ঞানী রায়ান স্ক্যাচ এই গবেষণা দলের নেতৃত্ব দেন। তিনি ও তাঁর স্ত্রী জ্যাকুই ২০১০ থেকে ২০১১ সাল পর্যন্ত মাকুশি লোকজনের ১৮ থেকে ৪৫ বছর বয়সী ৩০০ নারী-পুরুষের সাক্ষাৎকার নেন।

রায়ান স্ক্যাচ বলেন, ‘নারীর সংখ্যা অপ্রতুল থাকলে পুরুষ এক নারী নিয়েই দীর্ঘ দিনের সম্পর্কে অঙ্গীকারবদ্ধ থাকার আকাঙ্ক্ষা করে। ’

এখানে আগের বছর কার কত যৌনসঙ্গী ছিল, পরবর্তী পাঁচ বছরে এ ব্যাপারে প্রত্যেকের নিজস্ব চিন্তাভাবনা কী, ভালোবাসাহীন যৌনজীবন কতটা উপভোগ্য-এসব বিষয় বিবেচনায় আনা হয়।

নারীদের ব্যাপারে গবেষণায় জানানো হয়, পুরুষ যখন নারীর প্রত্যাশা অনুযায়ী চলতে পারে না, তখন পছন্দের মানুষ বেছে নেওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে নারীর অনেক সুযোগ তৈরি হয়। নারী সেটি কাজেও লাগায়। নিজের পছন্দ অনুযায়ী সঙ্গী বেছে নেওয়ার সুযোগ থাকলে নারী সেটি ভালোভাবেই চর্চা করে।

শেষ পর্যন্ত গবেষকের দাবী করেন, এই গবেষণা সব সম্প্রদায় বা গোষ্ঠীর ক্ষেত্রে প্রযোজ্য নাও হতে পারে। বিষয়টি আসলে সামাজিক অবস্থা, আর্থসামাজিক পরিস্থিতি, ধর্মীয় ও সাংস্কৃতিক বিষয়ের ওপর নির্ভর করে।
