খবর অনুযায়ী, আগামী ৩১ ডিসেম্বর বেঙ্গালুরুতে এক অনুষ্ঠানে পারফর্ম করার কথা ছিল সানি লিওনের। কিন্তু সানির অনুষ্ঠানের অনুমতি দিলে আইনশৃঙ্খলার অবনতি হতে পারে, এই যুক্তি দেখিয়ে অনুষ্ঠানের অনুমতি নাকচ করে দিয়েছে কর্নাটক সরকার। উদ্যোক্তাদের অবশ্য দাবি, পরিবার নিয়ে সবাই যাতে উপভোগ করতে পারে, সেভাবেই সানির অনুষ্ঠানের পরিকল্পনা নেওয়া হয়েছিল।

কর্নাটক সরকারের দাবি, গত আগস্ট মাসে কেরালের কোচিতে সানির অনুষ্ঠান চলাকালীন ব্যাপক বিশৃঙ্খলা দেখা দেয়। তাই অনুমতি নাকচ করার আগে কোচি পুলিশের থেকেও মতামত নেওয়া হয়েছে।

কন্নড়ে যে সংগঠনগুলি সানির অনুষ্ঠানের বিরোধিতায় নেমেছিল, তাদের দাবি, সানি লিওন অনুষ্ঠান করলে যুবসমাজ নষ্ট হয়ে যাবে। এমনকী এই অনুষ্ঠান হলে গণআত্মহত্যার হুমকি দিয়ে রেখেছিল এই সংগঠনগুলি।

এমনকি কন্নড় ছবি ‘ডিকে’-তে অভিনয় করেছেন তিনি। শুধু তাই নয়, সানি এখন দত্তক নেওয়া কন্যাসন্তানের মাও বটে। এত কিছুর পরেও যে সানির ‘উষ্ণ’ ইমেজে এতটুকু ভাটা পড়েনি, কর্নাটকের ঘটনাই তার বড় প্রমাণ।
