কাউগার্ল পজিশনে মূল সমস্যাটি হয় নিয়ন্ত্রণের ওপর। এ ক্ষেত্রে নারীর দেহের ওজন পুরুষাঙ্গের ওপর পড়ে, যার ফলে অনেক সময় সঠিকভাবে চাপ প্রয়োগ হয় না। ফলে এদিক-ওদিক হয়ে দুর্ঘটনা ঘটতে দেখা যায়। অন্যদিকে সাধারণভাবে প্রচলিত যৌনতার আসনগুলো কিছুটা নিরাপদ। বিশেষ করে যে আসনে পুরুষের ওপর পূর্ণ নিয়ন্ত্রণ থাকে, তাই একে নিরাপদ বলে জানাচ্ছেন বিশেষজ্ঞরা।

যৌনতার সময় যেসব আঘাত পাওয়ার ঘটনা ঘটে, সেগুলো এ গবেষণায় তালিকাবদ্ধ করা হয়। গত ১৩ বছরের পরিসংখ্যান এতে বিবেচনা করা হয়। গবেষণায় দেখা যায়, সবচেয়ে বেশি আঘাতের ঘটনা ঘটে কাউগার্ল পজিশনে। এ অবস্থানে প্রায় অর্ধেক আঘাত পাওয়ার ঘটনা ঘটে। এরপরের অবস্থান রয়েছে বহুল প্রচলিত ‘ম্যান অন টপ’ অবস্থান। এ অবস্থায় যৌনতায় ২১ ভাগ আঘাত পাওয়ার ঘটনা ঘটে।

যৌনতায় আঘাত পাওয়াদের গড় বয়স ৩৪ বছর। প্রাথমিকভাবে এ সমস্যায় পতিত ব্যক্তিরা হাড় ভাঙার মতো শব্দ ও যন্ত্রণার কথা জানান। এরপর সাধারণত ছয় ঘণ্টা অপেক্ষা করেও যদি অবস্থার উন্নতি না হয় তখন তারা চিকিৎসকের দ্বারস্থ হন।
